Cape Breton....beauty eh!

October 6

No doubt about it, this 300 kilometre drive had to be the most beautiful scenic drive we have ever taken in our life.

It helped that we were blessed with blue sky and puffy white clouds most of the way around this circular passage. It is in the Cape Breton Highlands near the top of Nova Scotia.

Parks Canada controls a goodly portion of the mountainous section that is carpeted in orange and red right now. There are enough little fishing villages and Acadian settlements to satisfy even the most ardent photographer.

It satisfied our yearn to see the fall colours for seemingly endless miles. There was not a centre of population with more than a thousand or two people in it the whole day. That is our kind of driving.

Near the end of the day, after seven hours of taking in the real meaning of fall colours, a lobster dinner at a waterside location with fading daylight with a view of the countryside became my wish.

I described the scene in my mind to Fellette in very vivid detail. Suddenly, presto, into view came this Red Barn restaurant almost identical to my vision. Within minutes we are seated with a view that exceeded my fanciful wish.

We arrived at our camp almost exactly nine hours to the minute of our departure. It was the best day we have had in the entire month and 8175 Ks as far as weather and scenery are concerned.

Pictures are great, have often heard of the leaves changing, but was hard to imagine.

Thanks for the call this morning.

"Happy Thanksgiving" where ever you are.
